Mark Knopfler's Guitars Sell For More Than $10 million

120 of Knopfler's guiatrs were auctioned at Christie's in London. 25% of the procedes went to charity. Top dog was his 1959 Vintage Gibson Les Paul Standard, which sold for about $884,000. That set a new world auction record for the model.

His other Gibson Les Paul Standard electric guitar sold for $755,000.

Knopfler's 1988 Pensa-Suhr MK-1, which he played at Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday tribute concert at Wembley Stadium, sold for $645,000. The Red Schecter Telecaster used to record hit Dire Straits song Walk Of Life sold for $530,000. Buyers bid from 61 countries.
