Kay guitars date back to the 1890s in Chicago as Groeschel mandolin maker. In 1923, Henry Kay Kuhrmeyer joined the company and in 1928, he bought it and changed the name to Kay. They became one of the earliest makers of electric guitars and amps.
The company has been bought and sold many times and even though they seem rare, you have seen many under different names including Silvertone sold by Sears and Truetone sold by Western Auto.
This early, historic model will be at the KC Guitar Show. You can see it, feel it and buy or trade for it and talk to Steve Scofina at the KC Guitar Show.
